From the master of suspense, director Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho, North by Northwest), comes this Oscar-winning thriller about a wealthy wallflower who suspects her penniless playboy husband of trying to murder her. Handsome, charming, well-liked Johnnie Aysgarth (Grant) is a worthless cheat, so when he marries Lina McLaidlaw (Fontaine), the naïve daughter of a wealthy retired general (Sir Cedric Hardwicke), everyone except Lina believes Johnnie is only after his wife's inheritance.
But her love changes to suspicion after she discovers that Johnnie has stolen money, his business partner has died mysteriously, and she finds a letter explaining her life insurance policy.
